Technical Details
V.A.C. Drape is a component of the V.A.C. System, which includes the following integrated systems: • The ACTIV.A.C.™, V.A.C. SIMPLICITY™, V.A.C.VIA™, and V.A.C. FREEDOM™ wound therapy systems, which are integrated systems used in wound care, specifically in emergency, extended care, and home care settings. • The V.A.C.ULTA™, INFOV.A.C.™, and V.A.C.RX4™ wound therapy systems, which are integrated systems used in wound care, specifically in emergency and other professional medical care settings where the medical professional must directly use or monitor the use of the product. When used on open wounds, the system creates an environment that promotes the accelerated healing of the secondary and tertiary (delayed) phases of wound healing by evaluating and managing the initial wound (preparing the wound bed for closure), reducing edema, promoting granulation tissue formation, and increasing blood flow, while simultaneously removing exudate and reducing the risk of infection. Open wounds include chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute, dehiscence, second-degree burns, ulcers (diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, or venous ulcers), and skin graft and flap wounds. For wounds that have been sutured or stapled and continue to exude or have pus, the system helps care for the wound by creating a moist environment and reducing the amount of exudate, through the use of negative pressure.
